Antique Unger Bros. Art Nouveau sterling cigarette case with smoking woman, not monogramed. This case measures 3 1/4 X 3 1/4", and weighs 2.67 OZT. It is marked "UB Sterling 925 Fine UB". Condition is very good with minor dings on two front corners, and one on the edge of the back. The case opens and closes fine and so does the bar for holding down the cigarettes.

Beautiful antique 7 1/8" page turner or paper knife made of coin silver with engraving. Impressive in its craftsmanship, the handle is engraved with decoration and the blade has the name of the original owner "Sophia Knight Seabury". It also has the date it was given, Dec 25th 1868. The other side of the turner or knife has beautiful engraving with foliate design and an empty cartouche for engraving initials. These were used to turn the pages of old texts and manuscripts, hence saving them from the damaging effects of the skin's oils, etc. This one in nearly pristine condition and a perfect tool (& accent) for the antique book collector! The 1896 "Social Register of New York" has a listing for a Miss Sophia Knight Seabury, Dr. and Mrs. Frederick Niles Seabury, and Dr. and Mrs. Wheaton Seabury. Antique solid sterling case was either for small calling cards or possibly very short cigarettes. IT is marked sterling with 2 circles in between a diamond and the number 12. The case is 3" long and 1-7/8" wide and about 1/4" thick. It has 2 very small dings on the front, and on the inside lid there is wear to the gold wash with a light crease in the center. The hinge is tight and it stays shut fine. It is too small to use for modern business cards but could be used for certain types of small "cigarettes". Here is a highly unusual sterling silver candle snuffer with built-in lighter in the handle. The overall length is approx 10-1/2" and is in excellent condition with the exception of light surface wear. It is marked "GWD Sterling 881" and was made by Graff, Washbourne & Dunn. According to the Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks: " Graff, Washbourne & Dunn, N.Y. N.Y. 1899-1961 Good quality makers of sterling holloware and novelities. Successors of Wood and Hughes, GWD was aquired by Gorham in 1961". The lighter insert is marked "Weston N.Y. Made in USA". The lighter is in working order and will just need fluid. Period Art Nouveau sterling pill box by William Kerr, c.1895. This piece can be worn around the neck using the ring to attach a chain at top. It has a lovely winged cherub or angel design in repousse and measures 1 1/4" diameter by 1/2" deep. Signed "Sterling" with the mark of maker William Kerr and the number 7. It is in very good condition but has a number of small dents on the sides of the bottom piece. If worn to lid side showing, dents will not be seen. This pill box closes firmly and will stay shut. Vintage English sterling silver cigarette case that belonged to King Farouk of Egypt with royal emblem. This Art Deco style cigarette case measures 4-1/2" by 3-1/2" and weighs 4.97 ounces. In the upper left hand corner is an emblem that has the letter F with a crown on top. The case was made in England and according to the assay marks was manufactured in 1946. It is in near mint condition and looks like it never used. It comes in its original case and has a bill of sale from Onnig Jewelers of Cairo Egypt. The bill sale, written in French, references "One cigarette case from the collection of King Farouk". Onnig was a well know jeweler with a shop near the Cairo Museum. Onnig even authored a book titled "Onnig G. Alixanian ; 50+ years in the life of an Egyptian Armenian jeweller".
The colorful King Farouk was deposed by military coup in 1952. On 18 June 1953, the revolutionary government formally abolished the monarchy, and Egypt was declared a republic. The revolutionary government quickly moved to auction off the King's vast collection of trinkets and treasures. Vintage sterling silver cigarette case made of Tiffany & Co. The piece is 4 wide, 3-1/4 tall and 1/8 deep, circa 1940 the clip is marked "Sterling Tiffany & Co.". The closure works perfectly and the clips inside work just as well. The inside of the case is plain with no design and no monogram. Condition is very good with no major dings, dents, or deep scratches. However, there is one scratch inside the case where the gold wash is missing, the area measures 3/8" by 1/4". The case was just polished and weighs 3.74 troy ounces. It is a good size to hold business cards. The case also comes with its original flannel bag with brown "Tiffany & Co parisNEWYORKlondon" label. According to the silver web site 925-1000 Currier and Roby were located in new York from 1900-1943 and they were "makers of small, high quality items". The closure works perfectly and the clips inside work just as well. The the case has an engraved design and is monogramed "LJZ". Condition is good, a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10.
